Branding your Practice

Private Medical Practices in the UK have
changed massively over the last 10 years or so. Where as once it was
sufficient to be a consultant and wait for local GP's to send private
patients to you, things have now changed:
- Private patients are more informed
and use the internet and other media to choose who they wish to see
- Many patients would like to see
people with an expertise in their condition, rather than just the
"local consultant"
- Many private practices now run as
businesses with more than one doctor - or run with combinations of
doctors, nurses and therapists - so traditional referral patterns
may not be appropriate
- Many private patients now self-refer

- Most people trust a brand or
identity rather than a name of a doctor - unless they are really
very famous
For these - and many other good
reasons - it is essential for anyone who is going succeed in Private
Practice to have a brand and brand identity. This is not just
"getting a logo", but working with a marketing expert such as Graham
